The Indian Land Fall Festival started over seven years ago as a way to get families together in the Indian Land Community during the month of September. The first festival took place on the grounds of Pulte/Del Webb Sun City in Indian Land, but our growth forced us to move to its present location at the City of Light off of Charlotte Highway in Indian Land. The Festival’s location (please see the map) is a central hub for some key communities bordering both SC and NC including, but not limited to: Indian Land, Sun City, Fort Mill, Lancaster in SC and Waxhaw, Ballantyne, South Charlotte, Pineville, Weddington in NC The Festival has grown over the years and has brought in attendance as high as 6,000 to 10,000 in prior years.
We have plenty to offer for children of all ages at this year’s Festival. We will have a Kid’s Area which will include some fun activities and games. We will have entertainment scheduled which, in the past, have included bands, karate demonstrations, dance demonstrations, and even a belly dancer! We will have our normal Silent Auction and this year, we are pleased to announce that the Fall Festival will host the South Carolina Chili Cookoff. The winner of the event will be invited to participate in the National/International competition in West Texas.
If you have attended the Fall Festival years gone past, no doubt you will want to come again. Please feel free to bring additional friends and family. There is no entrance fee to attend the Festival although we will ask for a nominal fee for the Children’s Area and perhaps something for sampling Chili during the SC Chili Cookoff. Donations for parking and/or attendance would be appreciated – but it is not mandatory. All funds raised during the Fall Festival will be used to fund/sponsor numerous civic and non-profit events and projects in the Indian Land Community.
On behalf of the Indian Land Rotary Club, and its many Volunteers (too many to mention here), we look forward to seeing you all on September 28th at City of Light!
Sincerely,
Adam Cooper
President
